Day 1: Departing from Kyoto – To Izumo via Okayama!

Kyoto Station – Shinkansen journey

The journey begins from Kyoto to Shimane.

With the view from the window, a sense of new adventure is in the air. What kind of journey will Shimane have in store for us?

Okayama Station – From the window of the JR express train

Transfer to the JR 「Yakumo」 Express at Okayama Station and enjoy the beautiful countryside outside your window.

Along the way, you can see Mt. Daisen from the train window.

The conductor will make an announcement: “Don’t sleep.” Must see.

It takes about 3 hours to arrive at Izumo Station.

Izumoshi Station – To the mysterious land of Izumo Taisha Shrine

First, rent a car.

Rental cars can be reserved in advance online at Times Car Rental Izumo Station, located near the station.

To Lake Shinji – Travel by rental car

Let’s head to Lake Shinji in a rental car. The lakeside scenery will spread out before you from the car window.

Stop along the way to enjoy the beauty of Lake Shinji. There are many swans on Lake Shinji. Enjoy the drive.

Sunset at Lake Shinji – A Romantic Moment

One of the main themes was the view of the sun setting over Lake Shinji. However, due to the cloudy weather on the day, we were unable to see the sunset we had hoped for.

On a clear day, you can see a sunset like this.

Overnight stay – Relax at the hotel

We arrived at the hotel and took a moment to relax and unwind after the day’s fatigue.

We had a panoramic view of Lake Shinji from our room.

Day 2: Let’s go to Matsue City

Departing from the hotel

We leave the hotel and head to Matsue Vogel Park in a rental car.

Matsue Vogel Park

At Matsue Vogel Park, you can interact with shoebills and flamingos and enjoy a stroll through the beautiful gardens.

松江フォーゲルパーク

Let’s go to Betafumi Hill – Experience the illusion

We head up Betafumi Hill in a rental car.

As we drive, the slope makes it feel like we’re moving slowly.

It’s a truly magical experience! Once we’ve completed Betafumi Hill, we’re filled with a sense of accomplishment.

This is what it looks like when you take a photo with a smartphone.↓↓

Matsue Station – The end of the journey

Return the rental car at Matsue Station and take the JR express train to Okayama.

Transfer to the Shinkansen at Okayama, and your two-day, one-night trip to Shimane will come to an end.

With rich memories and smiles in mind, we head back to Kyoto Station.

Summary: Let’s pass on our Shimane trip with a smile!

I had a great time on my two-day, one-night trip to Shimane, which was my first time there.

I would like to go back to the places I’ve always wanted to visit but wasn’t able to this time.

I hope this will be helpful for your travel plans. Enjoy a wonderful time in Shimane!
